A health care knowledge management portal that integrates numerous third party applications to give analysts an all encompassing view of the health care market .

As the sole designer for this project I worked closely with internal health care teams and company leadership to create dashboards that cater to the needs of each analyst.

ROLE TEAM DURATION

—The Challenge

Health care analysts require the latest and most relevant content to provide their clients with accurate information

As a part of their daily operations, analysts at Proactive have to scour numerous sites and sources to obtain critical insights for their market. With up to 15 sources visited daily by an analysts, the manual collection of data this size could lead to to critical information being missed or overlooked

Both leadership and the analysts considered this a misuse of high value employee time and believed the analysts’ expertise and skill could be better utilized on higher level work

— The Solution

Present clinical trials, medical publications, and other critical health care information in a real time SaaS application, so that healthcare analysts have the most relevant content for their needs

My task was to design a concise data visualization dashboard to consolidate numerous sources and third party applications into one manageable interface.

Being the sole designer I conducted extensive research to find the needs of each analyst providing them with multiple prototypes while I collected feedback

 

— The Process

  • Performing interviews and facilitating workshops with analysts and company leadership to ensure all requirements were gathered for the design phase.

  • Prototyping numerous dashboards for analysts to ensure the users needs were prioritized at every step

  • Implementing the final dashboards and ensuring all tools and features are working properly.

— User Research

I conducted interviews with the majority of the internal healthcare and life science teams at Proactive Worldwide.

Understanding the day-to-day operations of the analysts was critical to building interfaces that would allow the teams to perform their jobs more efficiently and effectively

The web applications used only showcased a specific fraction of the market each analyst was monitoring, thus requiring analysts to view multiple applications for their respective market.

Removing the need and inherent hassle of multiple application use was essential. Ensuring that each analyst was presented with proper data in one consolidated format was critical.

 

—3rd Party Integration

Integration of third-party applications was a key step in providing analysts with a consolidated source for a full data coverage over their respective market.

Working alongside Meltwater, AlphaSense, and Talkwalker we were able to provide Proactive Worldwide analysts with the ability to use all their favorite tools in one location.

 

—Dashboard Design

The design of each dashboard was contingent on the needs of each analyst based off the projects they’re involved in.

Once project requirements were obtained from the analysts through interviews, wireframing was needed to design the most efficient and effective dashboard to include all the necessary content, tools, and features for the analysts to perform.

 

—Content Channels

After identifying critical topics, content channels were created so that analysts had a steady real time stream of information that pertained to their markets.

Using a mix of different content connectors (RSS, JSON, Newsletter, SharePoint, etc.) information was filtered into content channels with the help of Booleans. The content channels would then display the data in a consolidated format for analysts to view

 
 

—Smart Filters

Analysts were then given the ability to slice the data in their market using smart filters.

Once all the necessary content is being provided to the analysts, smart filters were built out using critical topics and Booleans to give the analysts the ability to view the market in digestible pieces.

 

— The Outcome

Real-time SaaS application to consolidate numerous complex sources and third party applications into concise and manageable UIs.
